Catching Fire

By Suzanne Collins. This is the second installment of the Hunger Games Trilogy. I enjoyed reading this just as the first. Those who have read the books know the story is told from Katniss Everdeen's perspective. I found reading and watching the movie helps give a full picture.

When I started reading Catching Fire I was very interested in the Gale-Katniss-Peeta relationship. I think it is a very good example of 'it's complicated'. From the first book Katniss seemed kind of slow when it came to love matters and as you read the second one it's understandable why. It was not a priority. First and foremost was the survival of her family. I think that's just about it really but the games changed all that.

All you need is a spark to start a fire. Unintentionally Katniss was that spark. Instead of dreaming of a better tomorrow people were ready to fight for it. Fight for it they did. She and the mockingjay have become a symbol of hope or is it defiance. Of course Katniss had no idea about it until the President *snake eyes* himself came for a visit and the little peace she'd had is gone.

Anotther twist and she is heading back to the arena. The Capitols vengeance is already upon them. In her struggle to survive and save Peeta she has become the pawn on a bigger stage. Lucky for her she did not have to plan the strategy for this one. Right?

The games this time literally end with a bang. There is bad news, more bad news and there is also good news. I''l give it five stars. I read it in one go, just could not stop turning the pages to know what's next. I would not mind having a mockingjay myself only i would have someone else better sing to it first.

I am very much looking forward to Mockingjay the finale and I hear there is talk of having the movie in two installments?
