By Robert Ludlum. This is the first in a series of two. For me this was a page turner, I could not stop wanting to know what happens next.
From reading the prologue I guess one can tell they are in for a crazy ride. I have to confess though that I am guilty of not feeling sorry for Sam. I just found myself enjoying his grief and thinking, 'He got played real good.' That's just how good the Hawk was.
This is a story of self discipline, trust and getting the job done. It takes a look at politics, religion, business, the law itself and not to be forgotten human action and interaction. People place different values on different things and at times those values do not stay the same. Sometimes no matter how you try to conform and forget you find yourself fighting for it come what may.
The only mistake I made when I got this book was to start reading it on a weekday. For example on the train or on my lunch break. Now you are wondering why that is. I'll tell you, it's because it is public space and usually there are a lot of people around.
I probably lost a few friends I had not made yet. From the strange grinning faces and even stranger choked laughs. Trying to be quiet when you also want to let it out is tough. I'm just happy no one called the ambulance or police.
The outcome of the schemes made me want to laugh even more. But then now I know to expect good things from The Road to Omaha that I will be reading next. I have already reserved a good day to get stuck into this one in a secluded spot where I can laugh to my heart's content. Recommended five stars!
