By Suzanne Collins. This is the last installation to the Hunger Games Trilogy.
Being the final chapter to the story I felt it was ok. Katniss decides to face the music. There are characters that had grown on me that did not make it to the end. I was a bit sad about that. Of course there are new characters as well to get to know. More is revealed on the workings of the Capitol and the war reaches it's climax.
We learn a bit more about Katniss' past and about some of the other victors.A new era begins. The games are finally over or are they? Right to the very end it was interesting to hear what President Snow had to say about the whole situation. It made things click where they should not have been clicking but I guess Katniss found her answer as well.
A real life point from this book I thought to share was to not underestimate trauma and what it can do to people. Yes the worst might be over but that experience stays with you for the rest of your life. Those fortunate to seek and find support will manage somehow. But they never really completely get over it. People try and find ways to cope, sometimes there's none.
I was happy with whom Katniss ended up with. The book closes on a positive note or should I say bitter sweet. Overall the whole Hunger Games story was very engaging to read. There a lot of hair raising descriptions of people, creatures and acts I hope to never face. I enjoyed Katniss' character development. I must admit though there were times I wanted to give her a push and times I was quite skeptical as well.
I am interested to find out how the the movie will play out. What are your thoughts for anyone who has read it and what are you most looking forward to seeing in the movie?
