Catching Fire

By Suzanne Collins. This is the second installment of the Hunger Games Trilogy. I enjoyed reading this just as the first. Those who have read the books know the story is told from Katniss Everdeen's perspective. I found reading and watching the movie helps give a full picture.

Waiting

I just thought to write about songs on waiting. There are so many of them but mostly it's those love songs. A contrast to the world we live in today where things happen now. The I want it now and should have it now mentality. Granted most of them were written ages ago but it sure does make one wonder.

Procrastination

Sometimes i feel like putting things off only because I have been so busy at the end I feel there is nothing to show for it. Now I am not asking for an award for doing the dishes, doting the i's and crossing my t's or remembering my keys when i leave the house?

The Bedtime Story Book - Classic Tales From Childhood

Illustrated by Angel Dominguez and adapted by Jen Wainwright. I had to put this one in. Nice little book and I quite liked the illustrations. I thought to add to my collection some of those tales we grew up with. Some of us anyway.

The Time Traveler's Wife

By Audrey Niffenegger. I read this book and watched the movie. I have to say I have been hesitating to review this one. A bit of mixed feelings on this one.

Soundtrack to my life

Just wondering how many think of this. If there was a soundtrack that by listening to it everyone would recognize it as your life, yes including you, what would it be? Sometimes I think a chunk of mine would just be the sound of a broken record and then sometimes stuck repeating the same old track.

I just thought to write a short post on 'If.' Just as it happens there are many 'if' sayings out there, too many to count.If can be good but mostly if is bad right? I say tell me any good that has come out of 'If' and we could all be here longer than we'd like.

A Slice of Pi

By Liz Strachan. No it is not about pies or tigers and yes it is about all the maths you forgot to remember from school. This book has a fun and entertaining yet informative look at maths, one I did not get in school.

Do your best

I was debating between, "you can do it" and "do your best" for the title in the end I figured there is a reason why it is said to do your best. There are things that we just cannot do but doing your best is something everyone can.

Leaving Microsoft to Change the World

By John Wood. The full title is long I just wrote the first part. Choose one or the other. For me, when I think about the book it is, "That Room to Read Book" or "John Wood's book.'' It is his first published book.

A thousand words

They say a picture can paint a thousand words but for me there are a lot of things were pictures or the thousand words are just not enough. I would really like it if someday I could see this site for myself.

Life is for living.

This blog is where I share my thoughts about things life. This includes books, music, films, everyday things and everything in between.

When I have not forgotten my camera at home I like to take a few photos or be random which you can find at my Tumblr Blog. You can also find me on Facebook and Twitter.

I kind of wanted to come up with a closing catch phrase like 'Keep on living' or 'Live for life'.

In the end I figured it's way too much effort. Life is for living and I'll leave it at that.

I thought to do a special review for a manga I came across. Really sweet, left me laughing so hard and thinking where has all that innocence gone today? Haru no Ame by Minami Maki.

Paperman

This is a short Disney animation. It tells a story about love. Sweet and too short in my opinion would love to see more of them.

Oh Darling do behave!

By Tania Materazzo Rann. I was just browsing a book store on my lunch break looking for a bit of a different read when I came across this one.

What I liked first about it was the statement 'MANNERS - the ultimate fashion accessory' on the front. I agree. I am sure if I asked people what they thought the ultimate accessory was, manners would not be on the list or may be the very last feature. No matter how stunning you look or think you are, lacking in common courtesy distracts from it all. So i decided to give it a go. It looked like a short and fun read.

Black Beauty

A timeless classic. Black Beauty by Anna Sewell. I have read this book over and over.The first being a library copy a green hard cover book ages ago. I thought interesting that it should have a black cover instead. It is written in simple and clear language.

Over the years from when it was originally published in 1877 it has come in many different covers with different kinds of illustrations to it. However the story remains the same. From Black Beauty's point of view it tells of different characters he met both people and animals alike. It tells of the many life lessons he gained from all the experiences and there is a happy ending for him though the same can not be said for some he came across in his life journey.

I did not die

Just thought to share a poem I came across. The poem's origins had been unclear but it has been credited to Mary Elizabeth Frye.

Goal

Reaching for the stars. Living the dream. Walking on cloud nine. Walking on sunshine?

There are so many ways people describe their goals, their reason for living and their greatest hopes and desires. Needless to say there are also many ways to try and express achievement of this.

Time

There are so many expressions about time which show exactly how people feel about time. This feeling is not static. It changes with circumstance and maybe place. A point of view.

Time is of the essence. I heard songs say time is unkind, some people say time is money. Some have so much to do and so little time. Just like there is so much to say about time and no enough time for it all. Yet others have all the time in the world.

I can hardly imagine what the world would be like if we could get time the way it means most to us. Chaos probably will ensue. The sun will not set for others and for some it will not rise. Yay no going to work because the weekend will never be over! Right?

Oliver

There was this really cute kids book I read in less than five minutes about Oliver by Christopher Franceschelli.

Oliver was just an egg and there was nothing he could do about it.

Memories

We all have memories of our lives. Some we forget intentionally or unintentionally. Some we would like to forget. Needless to say our memories are the stories of our lives. They have a part on who we are today.

As some would say life happens and there in our memories things big and small are kept. That very big decision made after countless sleepless nights. That sweet moment laughing and carefree with friends. I know it is said a lot it's the little things that count but it takes a lot more effort in some cases to recount.

Vocabulary

As mentioned in my previous post I try to make sense and succeed most times. Maybe sometimes. Let's just say I try as much as I can.

So I like to write and doodle every now and then, like most. I go back once a while and have a read of what I wrote. Safe to say I get what I was writing about but sometimes I think if I got A from the street to read this would they understand?

Journey

So this is the start will see how much I can keep it up. Hopefully down the track I will be wondering why I had not done this earlier. The big question for now would be why?

My answer is why not? The main word for me at the moment is curiosity. I am curious about a lot of things and life is about living. So feel free to join me.

I might not make sense most of the time but hopefully the message will still come across right. Right?
